Enrichment
Investing in moments; things like music lessons, SAT prep, and soccer camp. These moments build confidence, character and foster lifelong respect for themselves and others by keeping their minds and bodies active outside of school. We believe that every child deserves to do the things they love and our goal is to enrich our kids’ lives.
The Wonderfund was founded exclusively to serve children engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Our special partnership with DCF gives us the opportunity to work directly with social workers to meet the individual needs of these children.
Kids choose what they want to do
YOU make it possible for children and teens to engage with their friends and community, build confidence and skills and \simply enjoy being kids!! The Wonderfund encourages children to choose activities and programs that spark their imaginations, unleash their talents and bring them joy. Your donations to the Wonderfund allow kids to follow their dreams.
We fund enrichment activities through social worker requests in the following areas:
Foster Family Events
Access Card
Emergency Aid
We provide comfort for thousands of children who experience home removal every year, often with only the clothes on their back. We provide an Emergency Aid gift card or a new duffel bag filled with seasonally appropriate clothing, pajamas, socks and underwear to give each child something to call their own.
Emergency Aid and Transitional Necessities
Many of the 10,000 children who enter DCF foster care each year come into care with only the clothes on their backs. In this traumatic time, many children must leave their homes without necessary everyday items like winter coats, pajamas, underwear, shoes or their favorite comforting teddy bear. Your support will help children in these difficult circumstances feel more comfortable and cared for as they enter their new surroundings.
The Wonderfund is the only nonprofit that can be there immediately, with no red tape, to bring extra comfort in a traumatic moment. We fund, and work with partners to provide each DCF office with basic necessities so the social workers can be ready when a child needs them in an emergency situation. These items include:
- Diapers, wipes, baby supplies
- Gift Cards to fund the purchase of clothing
- New Pajamas, underwear, socks, clothing, toiletries
- New Duffel bags the child can call their own
